About the Role
Each afternoon you will pick up children from schools around Cole Harbour using a TideView-provided vehicle, transporting them safely to our program site. From there, you will assist in planning and leading nature-based activities rooted in our forest school philosophy — bushcraft, outdoor exploration, and child-led discovery in all weather conditions.
You will support children's growth through guided play, risky and emergent learning experiences, and environmental education, while fostering a safe and exciting outdoor space where kids can truly be kids. You'll engage warmly with parents and guardians at the end of each session and document children's learning through photos and observational notes. A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and clear background checks are required.
Requirements
First Aid/CPR an asset
Clear criminal record check, child abuse registry check, and vulnerable sector check
Previous experience in a setting where children are main focus
Experience in a outdoor learning setting
About the Company
TideView Nature School is a forest-school inspired after-school program based in the Halifax Regional Municipality, operating under Grounded Child Development Society. We take kids outside — rain or shine — and give them the freedom to explore, create, and lead their own play in nature. Our programming runs within CSAP schools and is rooted in the belief that children thrive when they're given real outdoor experiences, not structured indoor routines dressed up with a leaf sticker.
We're a small but passionate team working toward something bigger - expanding nature-based, child-led opportunities for kids across Nova Scotia. If you believe in what we're building, we'd love to have you be part of it.
