Summer Camp Lead

Forest School Camp Lead Tideview Nature School – Cole Harbour, NS

This is not a typical summer camp role. You're not running scheduled activities - you're creating the experience.

Forest School Lead

- Part Time

At TideView Nature School, we're passionate about inspiring children through the beauty and wonder of nature. Nested in Cole Harbour Heritage Park, our forest school offers a unique learning environment where children explore, learn, and grow amidst the trees, streams, and wildlife. We're currently looking for an energetic, creative, and nature-loving Forest School Assistant to join our team part-time and help us nurture young minds in the great outdoors.

What We're Looking For:

  • A deep-rooted passion for outdoor education and a profound appreciation for the natural world.

  • Experience working with children aged 2-5, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in outdoor education or similar roles.

  • Demonstrated leadership in creating, organizing, and managing educational programs, with a knack for inspiring both children and team members.

  • Robust physical fitness, capable of working in diverse weather conditions, navigating uneven terrain, and performing necessary physical activities.

  • A strong advocate for risky play, emergent learning, and play/place-based learning philosophies.

  • Exceptional creativity in designing and implementing engaging and educational outdoor activities.

  • Knowledge of local flora and fauna, environmental science, and outdoor survival skills, or the willingness to learn.

Forest School Assistant
(After School Program)

- Part Time

Afterschool Program Assistant (Part-Time)

​

TideView Nature School is excited to launch a new afterschool program in Cole Harbour, and we are looking for a passionate, energetic, and nature-loving individual to join our team! If you love working with children, enjoy outdoor education, and have an interest in the environment, flora and fauna, and bushcraft, this could be the perfect role for you.

 

Position Details:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:15 PM – 5:15 PM

  • Location: Cole Harbour, NS

  • Status: Part-time (with potential to become full-time after 3 months)

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for outdoor education, nature, and environmental learning.

  • Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings.

  • A friendly, patient, and supportive approach to helping children learn and explore.

  • Physically capable of working in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold), walking on uneven terrain, and performing light lifting duties.

  • Enthusiasm for bushcraft skills (prior knowledge is a plus but a strong desire to learn is encouraged!).

  • Creativity in designing and leading engaging outdoor activities.

  • Understanding of play-based, emergent learning philosophies and the value of risky play.

  • Basic knowledge of local flora, fauna, and environmental science is an asset.

  • A team player who can also work independently and take initiative.
