Early Years Program

Ages: 3½–6 years old
Location: Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia
Program Duration: March 5th to June 19th
Hours: 9:00am - 12pm

Designed for children who have outgrown traditional daycare or need more than a typical preschool.

Children spend their days outside, moving, exploring, building, and solving real problems in nature. Activities include building structures, learning basic bushcraft skills, practicing outdoor safety and survival skills, and engaging in hands-on projects that grow with their interests.

Learning happens naturally, without long indoor routines, or rigid schedules.

Children develop skills by actually doing the work:

Confidence and resilience by planning, building, adjusting ideas, and seeing projects through
Social skills by working together, sharing roles, and solving problems as a group
Early literacy, numeracy, and life skills by measuring, counting, drawing plans, storytelling, and explaining ideas

Projects are child-driven, often involving building forts or shelters, gathering materials, inventing ideas, and imaginative play that continues and grows over time.

Our program is child-led, emergent, and place-based, guided by experienced educators who create fun, active, and balanced days that blend adventure, focus, and calm.

Permission and Consent

These permissions apply to all children listed below unless otherwise specified.

I give permission for my children to participate in outdoor activities, including, but not limited to hiking, shelter building, and supervised tool use

In the event of an emergency, I authorize TideView staff to perform appropriate medical help or seek medical attention for my children.

I agree to send my children with weather-appropriate clothing, lunch, snacks, and water each day. I understand that if my child is not adequately prepared, I may be asked to pick them up early.

I give permission for my children to appear in photos/videos used for TideView Nature School promotional purposes (website, social media, marketing materials)

Payment & Fee Agreement

Tuition Rate: $30 per program day

Scheduled Days: Thursdays & Fridays (9:00am–12:00pm)

Tuition & Due Dates

Tuition is billed monthly and is due on or before the 1st day of each month, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Payments must be paid in full by the due date.

Late Pickup Fees

If a parent/guardian is late picking up a child:

Every effort must be made to contact the provider immediately.
A late fee of $15 per 15 minutes (or portion of 15 minutes) is charged.
Late pickup fees are due the same day and must be paid on or before 11:59pm.

Late Payment Fees

A late payment fee of $10 per day is charged in addition to tuition for every day the tuition bill is not paid in full.

Provider Absence / Backup Care

When the provider is ill or away, backup persons may be arranged to provide care.
If no backup person is available and the program day is cancelled, the missed tuition amount will be credited toward the following month’s tuition.

Registration & Cancellation Policy

Registration and Payment

Enrollment is confirmed upon receipt of the first month’s tuition, which is required at the time of registration. Registration is not complete until payment has been received.

Cancellation Before Program Start

Written cancellation received more than 30 days before the program start date will receive a refund of tuition paid, minus a $50 administrative fee.
Written cancellation received within 30 days of the program start date will result in the first month’s tuition being non-refundable.

The administrative fee covers enrollment processing, staffing commitments, and program preparation.

Withdrawal After Program Begins

A minimum of four (4) weeks written notice is required for withdrawal once the program has begun.
Tuition remains payable during the notice period.
No refunds or credits are provided for missed days due to illness, vacation, weather-related closures, or other absences.

Tuition reflects enrollment in the program session, not attendance on individual days.

Program Cancellation by Provider

If TideView Nature School cancels the program prior to its start date, all tuition paid will be refunded in full.

Liability Waiver and Agreement

I have read and agree to the waiver and release of liability.

I am the parent or legal guardian of the participating child(ren) and understand that outdoor programs involve inherent risks such as weather, terrain, and wildlife.

I give permission for my child(ren) to participate in all activities at TideView Nature School and release the staff and affiliates from any liability for injury, loss, or damages. I confirm my child is fit to participate and authorize emergency medical treatment if needed
